The association
Founded in 2025 in Caltagirone, the historic Sicilian city renowned worldwide for its artistic ceramics, the association was created by 17 artisan ceramicists who chose to join forces to protect, safeguard, and promote authentic Made in Caltagirone pottery and traditional ceramic craftsmanship.
The primary objective of the association is to obtain the PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) certification for Caltagirone ceramics, a recognition that will represent a major turning point for the local ceramic sector, guaranteeing origin, quality, and authenticity.
In addition to protecting traditional pottery, the association is committed to promoting and enhancing the local area through initiatives, cultural events, exhibitions, festivals, and other activities designed to make the city of Caltagirone increasingly attractive to visitors, collectors, and lovers of Italian ceramics.
The association also works to build a strong and collaborative network with other local organizations, institutions, and cultural entities that share the goal of improving the city, supporting sustainable tourism, and enhancing the value of Caltagirone’s ceramic heritage.
